We are proud to have the 2008 Pa. State Honey Queen as one of our members. Here is a short biography in her own words. Congratulations, Sasha, from all of us at 2 Cs and a Bee.
My name is Sasha Dickert, and I am 21 years old. I live with my Dad, Mom, and younger brother Ben, on our farm in Vinco, Pennsylvania (close to Johnstown). We raise beef cattle, vegetables, and of course always have a hive or two. Both of my parents also have full-time jobs off of the farm. I am currently attending Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, and in the fall of 2008 I am planning on attending Conemaugh School of Nursing to become a registered nurse. My older sister Dana is currently attending there, and I will join her soon. When I'm not in school, I work two jobs; one in retail sales, and the other waitressing at Applebee's. When I'm not working, I love to spend time with my younger brother and friends. I am very excited to be the 2008 Pennsylvania Honey Queen. I am also very anxious to learn so much more about honey bees and to travel around Pennsylvania promoting and teaching in the upcoming year. I was very surprised to receive my very own hive for Christmas from one of Pennsylvania's State Bee Inspectors, Craig Cella. I thank him very much and I can't wait to paint it pink! I look forward to meeting many of you over the upcoming year!
It is with great pleasure that we also present the 2008 Pa State Honey Princess.
Hi there! My name is Emerald Laubacher and in November I was elected as the 2008 Pennsylvania Honey Princess. As the princess I will be traveling across Pennsylvania supporting and promoting honey, the beekeeping industry, and the Pennsylvania Beekeepers. I currently live outside of Montoursville, Pennsylvania, with my mom, dad, and three older brothers (when they are home from college). Before settling on the family homestead, we traveled across the country with my dads work. I am a seventeen year old, home schooled high school senior. I am planning on going to college and majoring in agriculture. But until then, I am just going to enjoy my time at home. I started helping with bees when my middle brother, Daniel, went away to college and left the bees at home for us to take care of. Along with bees we also have a few beef cows, a milk cow, chickens, three dogs, and a tortoise. Now you know a little bit more about me and I look forward to meeting some of you throughout my year as the 2008 Honey Princess.
